Another Day in the Life of a Fox…

A lesson in DIVAS March 28, 2009

I’ve been learning a lot about Divas lately since I am planning a “Diva Luncheon” for Charley’s 6th Birthday.  Defining what a Diva actually is has been somewhat difficult.  After much thought, deliberation and googling I am now able to shed some light on this very important subject.

Divas in general are always dressed in the latest fashions, especially the ones that add accent to their awesome choreographed dance moves.  Divas are confident and most importantly they always make a rockstar recovery after forgetting some of their music lyrics.

Don’t believe me… just see for yourself. [ ?posts_id=1939719&dest=-1]

So I came up with what I thought was a genius idea to get the kids to clean up their rooms.  We have yet to set up routine chores or an allowance system, so I decided to take the “Mary Poppins” game approach.

I made a pictorial chore chart for each girl.  After they completed a task they were to put an X (or heart, star, check, whatever) next to it and move on down the page.  Once they got to the bottom it was time for the Mom Inspection.  Depending on how many Mom Inspection stickers they accumulated they were able to choose from a list of rewards.

I made a HUGE deal about it and both the girls seemed really excited.  They raced each other upstairs to get started…. no joke!

Here is a close up of the chore chart!

Ten minutes later I found Ella downstairs like this!  Mind you she was dressed normal when we began this little shindig.  Mysteriously, a sudden tummy ache had come over her and she said she needed to lie down for a while!

Folks… I’m thinking the three year old might be pulling a fast one here.

As you can see below, Charley was all about my picture chore chart.  As for Ella…. well, I might  need to move to a cash incentive next time.

Just in case you were wondering… Charley chose to watch a movie with Mom for her reward. 🙂

Spring Break March 25, 2009

We kicked off Spring Break week with a BANG!

The girls and I packed up the van and headed out on an adventure to the Cleveland Children’s Museum.

 Vodpod videos no longer available.

On the way to our next destination we stumbled upon Whole Foods Market!  This is the mecca of health food stores.  Sorry no pictures… I was in too much of a Zen state to click away.

An hour later, we were on our way to the next stop…. the Cheesecake Factory!

Vodpod videos no longer available.

The girls were on a sugar high the entire ride home, but boy was it worth it!

My Awesome Friends to the Rescue March 20, 2009

Today was the fourth day this week I kept Charley home from school because she was too sick to go.  My two good friends, Susan and Amy, must have sensed I was on the verge of losing it because they dropped off a surprise care package.  Some “Get Well” balloons and Pedilite for Char and some chocolate frosting and graham crackers for me.  Yes friends… I am officially admitting my addiction to the frosted graham!  Now maybe I can move on to step 2 in my recovery. 🙂

Thanks girls! You two are Awesome.

according to Ella anyway.

Not exactly sure why she sings it quiet, then loud, then quiet, then loud… either way it’s quite entertaining.

Charley got “SICK” in the middle of the night last night so I kept her home from school today.  Look how excited Ella is to bring her big sister some breakfast!

Is that sweet or what?p3170017

Happy St. Patty’s Day! March 17, 2009

I thought it would be a fun idea to make green eggs and toast this morning.  By the way they looked better in person… .the picture here looks a little disgusting.

The girls DID NOT think that was a good idea.  In fact, they were down right angry about the whole thing.p31600031

Charley even cried at one point.p3160004

Finally, after much begging and barter they tried it…. and liked it!p3160006

So the lesson learned is: If you want to save the morning, take your food coloring and shove it.p3160007
