Both girls had their school “Harvest Party” on the same day.   With it being Ella’s first school party I was glad hers was in the morning.

She could barely stand the excitement of eating frosted treats and digging for prizes in worms…aka: spaghetti!

Later that day Ella got to crash Char’s party… and surprisingly Charley was ok with it!

I haven’t posted with a video in a while so I thought I would make a short one of our cold and windy T-O-T day.

My littler helper and I  decided to throw on our aprons and  make some Caramel Corn!

It’s really butterscotch, but for some reason it comes out tasting like caramel?? Whatever you want to call it, the stuff is AMAZING! :)

PA270116

The hardest part about cooking with Ella is  every time I turn my back on her she steels  the ingredients… and then looks at me like, “What?”

I went from a cup of  butterscotch chips to 1/2 in a matter of seconds!

PA270120

For those of you who received a treat bag filled with this amazingly addictive stuff, I’ll spare you some of the ingredient details.

Is it really necessary to ruin such a good thing??

Just the 2 of Us November 1, 2009

Mike and I took advantage of a beautiful fall morning by packing up our bikes and heading to Quail Hallow.  That seems to be our favorite spot lately; we’ve been there four times this month!  This was our first time checking out the mountain bike trail though, and I am so glad we did because is was really fun. It was perfect for beginners like us!

PA260113

My favorite part of the trip… besides riding around in the woods with the greatest guy I know, was all the deer out looking for breakfast.  We saw six throughout the four mile trail!  I was amazed how close they let us get to them; they didn’t seem to mind sharing the woods with us at all.

I’m sure the only reason I feel so warm and fuzzy about the little bambis is because they didn’t cause me to crash by darting in front of my bike as I rode down the trail.  Hopefully I don’t share a different story with y’all about our next trip. :)

What’s Fall without a trip to the Pumpkin Patch?

Thanks Nana and Grandpa for embracing the bitter cold wind to spend the day picking out pumpkins,

shuffling through a muddy corn maze and watching a pig race….YEE HAA!

Quail Hollow October 4, 2009

I took the girls on their fist fall hike of the season at Quail Hollow State Park.

I’ve learned that Ella needs a little more practice with the hiking thing.

This picture was taken  shortly before she almost peed her pants and ultimately had to have a crash course in “squatting” in the woods.

This here was her favorite part of the trip.  The one she complained the least about….. walking back to the car.

Perhaps next time I’ll bring Candy Corn.

Is there any better way to love on yourself than with a mani and a pedi???  I think not friends.

Char and I spent about three hours getting our hands and feet rubbed, scrubbed and painted…. thanks to Mr. Michael Wonderful Fox who bought the two of us a gift certificate waaaay back on Valentine’s Day.

We started our girl’s day with lunch…

Walk-a-Thon September 21, 2009

Thank you to everyone who pledged Charley in her school Walk-a-Thon!

It turned out to be a beautiful day and the first graders seemed to get a kick out of it.

Here is a picture of Char with her teacher, Mrs. Lane.

Preschool Update September 21, 2009

So far Ella is loving preschool.  She has serenaded the family with several new songs involving the days of the week and months of the year.  She loves her two teachers: Miss Nicki and Miss Kim and she has even learned a pretty big word… Nocturnal! :)

As you can see below, she still hasn’t quite mastered using scissors yet…. unless you consider cutting paper and your shirt at the same time a special talent!

Maybe they will cover that next week.
